Maintenance Manager

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB: Directs, plans, and coordinates activities in the Maintenance Department, ensuring proper machine repair and uptime are achieved.

Responsible for the efficient and cost-effective repair and maintenance of all related plant equipment, buildings, and grounds.Develop, implement, and maintain an effective preventative maintenance program on all related plant assets which include, but are not limited to, molding machines, compressors, chillers, thermolators, and welders.Ensure the completion of accurate documentation associated with all maintenance procedures inclusive of preventative/predictive maintenance and emergency repair activities.Ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of an activity-based work order system for all repairs, inclusive of safety compliance procedures. Documents activities accordingly and maintains documentation according to company-directed procedures.Schedule work orders with the Materials Department to ensure jobs are completed on time and to the desired frequency.Maintain associated plant equipment to achieve 90% or better asset utilization. Continue to monitor the effectiveness and utilization of plant assets and create improvement plans to continuously improve utilization indices.Establish long-term goals for each Maintenance Department and measure the results in the application of task completion and thoroughness of work performed.Oversee, and justify, spare parts crib that enables the facility to function effectively through the effective utilization of company assets.Prioritize repair and maintenance activities based on customer demand and safety compliance.Enforce the appropriate safety polices and procedures to ensure total compliance of OSHA regulations.Approve maintenance purchase order requisitions and ensure that other appropriate approvals are obtained prior to the release of the order.Manage/direct the effectiveness of maintenance activities to improve customer satisfaction, while enhancing equipment utilization and throughput.Responsible for overseeing the timely completion of the maintenance departments repairs to machinery and equipment.Support production activities throughout the day and be willing to be available on an “on call” basis to ensure customer and production requirements are met.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: 

5 + years’ experience as a maintenance manager Engineering degree preferred.


KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/TASKS/ABILITIES:

Strong mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic competencies. Must have a proven track record that demonstrates these functional competencies.Strong functional knowledge of preventative and predictive maintenance procedures and practices. Strong functional knowledge of programmable controls, including the ability to troubleshoot and modify programs using appropriate tools.
Working knowledge of plant machinery, electronics, hydraulics, and pneumatics.Proven experiences overseeing a maintenance department Must be willing to continue training to upgrade skills, as required.
 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, or crouch.Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and power tools.
