Maintenance Automation Technician

Performs daily inspection of all PPE required including but not limited to SLIP-RESISTANT/STEEL-TOED SHOES, hairnet, and beard net (in necessary) to ensure good overall condition of items that provide optimal personal safety & protection while working in the facility. Successfully acquires and maintains Lock Out-Tag Out Certification for machine and safely performs all functions in accordance with OSHA and company requirements and standards. Ensures compliance to quality, food safety / HACCP, FSMA, Food Defense, 5S, OSHA and other support programs; assures conformity to all company, customer and government standards. Communicates any concerns related to product safety, integrity, quality and legality to management or to the confidential hotline if the need for anonymity is necessary. Support General Plant Safety, Food Safety, Food Defense Initiatives and Good Manufacturing Practices with an understanding that these are absolutes and are Priority #1. High PLC, VFD, programming, calibrating, electrical Knowledge. High component level Trouble shooting skills to reduce downtime. Ensure PLCs, VFD, servo motors, I/o cards, backup programs, calibration certification and electrical schematics are well stored. Ability to calibrate equipment, temperature probes, humidity probes, automated equipment. Diagnosing malfunctions in equipment and machinery based on observation of machinery and applying knowledge from experience. Repair and maintain machinery and equipment in accordance with diagrams, operational manuals, and manufacturing specifications. Directs Electro mechanics, mechanics, or helpers in repairing and maintaining electrical components of machinery and equipment. Plans and performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical theories and principles, writing specifications, local and national electrical codes, properties of various materials, and principles of operation and application of electronic equipment. Upkeep of automation documentation and work orders in maintenance program. Performs preventive maintenance functions as directed. Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers. Anticipate potential problem areas and delegate course of action to be taken. Must have a thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic components and equipment including the use of special instruments for diagnostic purposes. Must be able to work well with all levels of personnel whether individually or in a team environment, and especially must be able to interface and communicate with line operators to assist with repairs and troubleshooting. Computer experience/operation and PLC programming are necessary. Conducts, maintains, tests, and repairs electrical/electronic, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and components. Support plant operation during off hours and weekends according to needs. Install equipment in accordance with company safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown and in line with OSHA requirements. Informs appropriate management and line mechanics of potential electrical/mechanical problems and inherent dangers involved. Applies knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical principles in determining equipment malfunctions and applies shills in restoring equipment to operation. Provides skilled mechanical and electrical/electronic support to all areas of manufacturing. Must be safety conscious. Know where emergency STOP and START/STOP buttons are located. Responsible for following all Lock Out/Tag Out procedures for machine when necessary. Complete a Food Safety Incident Report if an incident occurs. Complete an Incident Report if there are any injuries. Follow and enforce all company GMP procedures. PPE, 70E and document any violations. Willing to work any shift and overtime as required. Possibility of mandatory overtime to support maintenance needs, production needs, trainings, or meetings. Willing to work any shift and overtime as required. Perform special requests by Lead Mechanic/Maintenance Supervisor/ Maintenance Manager Regular Attendance is required in accordance with Company attendance policy and procedures. Performs other duties/responsibilities as assigned. Complete initial/annual training to ensure the individual is properly qualified (QI) to perform all required job tasks as outlined in training programs/records. #TMZ23 Qualifications 3-5 years of proven experience in the industrial machinery trouble shooting. The ability to demonstrate high proficiency in this area is required. Prior experience in a manufacturing environment requiring repetitive work preferred. 1-3 years prior experience in a food manufacturing environment. Possess strong problem-solving abilities. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively – verbally & written – and work well with Team Members and Management Strong mechanical aptitude, good math skills and ability to use gauges and measuring tools are required. Ability to read & interpret written & verbal direction while working in a safe, effective & productive manner within a fast-paced environment. Minimum of High School Diploma or GED required. May be required to go to different shifts for training or provide training. May be required to work overtime and/or weekends as needed. Will need to have their own tools to perform daily maintenance tasks. Preferred associate degree in controls and instrumentation technology. Must be able to move 75 pounds a distance of 25 feet or more. Lift up to 50 pounds repetitively. Exposure to high voltage electricity. Stand for up to 12 hours with regular breaks. The employee is regularly exposed to heat, fumes, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors, moving parts/equipment and non-toxic industrial waste and scrap. SLIP-RESISTANT/Steel-toed SHOES, earplugs, safety glasses, hairnets, beard nets (if facial hair exists) and smocks are required to be worn/used in accordance with company GMP and Safety standards. Condition of these items must be inspected by employee daily and be replaced when no longer providing the optimal protection of the Team Member.
