No County Rockland Street Address 51-55 Rte. 9W City West Haverstraw State NY Zip Code 10993 Duties Description The Maintenance Assistant will work under the direct supervision of a department head in the wheelchair services department in providing clinical staff with a fleet of appropriately configured wheelchairs. Wheelchairs will be organized for daily issues and returns, and/or tagged for service. Maintain a schedule for organizing and matching wheelchair components to prevent a backlog of chairs. Interpret clinician prescription and identify the appropriate wheelchair and components they require. Will complete maintenance on wheelchairs. Maintain database of wheelchairs, deliver chairs to units for new admissions and other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Two years of experience in maintenance or mechanical work under the supervision of a skilled trades-worker or completion of an appropriate two-year technical school course.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES:At least 3 years working with wheelchairs, including minor repairs and adjustments, switching parts for patient comfort and accessibility, ensuring the wheelchair is fit for patient use, experience with computer technology.
