nVenia is adding a Manual Lathe Machinist to our dynamic and dedicated team. The Manual Lathe Machinist will machine parts per specifications on schedule and within budgeted hours.
POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Read, interpret and understand blueprints and drawings including symbols, welding symbols, material type and material shape
Plan machining operations by studying work orders, blueprints, drawings, specifications, materials, machining parameters, and interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances
Perform basic machining math including fractional / decimal conversion, feet / inches conversion, basic trigonometry (sin, cos), calculating dimensions and tolerances and determining missing linear or angular dimensions
Properly set up and operate Manual Lathe and Mill Machines and machine parts/components to the required specifications
Properly utilize machining tools such as carbide drill and reaming
Plan and perform a wide variety of diversified close tolerance lathe operations
Verify conformance of machined work-piece to specifications using measuring devices and make corrections as required
Maintain a safe and clean work environment and comply with all quality, safety and work rules and regulations
Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance as required following manufacturer’s instructions
Understand and maintain both quality and quantity standards and expectations
Continually seek to improve work processes and individual performance
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Experience with short production runs, multiple setups and changeovers Ability to read blueprints and machine components from them Minimum 2 years’ experience working on a manual lathePHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for a minimum of 8 hours per day. The employee is frequently required to grasp, handle, and feel objects, control and manage tools, and use hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk, stoop, kneel and crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but at times loud. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
