Machinist III (Prototype)
**Job Description** Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this particular role, it will be performed full-time on site. Come build your career with BAE Systems. **Requirements and Responsibilities** Talented individual dedicated to quality and efficiency in a prototype machining atmosphere. Must be capable of manufacturing state of the art aerospace products in a high mix -low volume model shop. As a BAE Model Shop Team member, you will utilize modern 3,4,5 axis machines, CNC lathes and Mill-Turn equipment. You will work directly with design engineers to turn concepts into manufacturable products. **Required Education, Experience, & Skills** High school and vocational school or associates degree and 1-2 years relevant experience. Has the ability to analyze a 3D Model using manufacturing software Has 1 year experience CNC set up/machining. Be able to communicate drawing features and/or functionality/manufacturability with Engineering/Designers Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence and reports. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations before customers, clients, or other employees. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Thorough knowledge to Machine Shop mathematics. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems that may arise in certain situations. Must be able to tour all work sites. Reads blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals and specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished part, sequence of operations, and setup and tooling requirements. Demonstrates set-up and thought process for sequence of operations. Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for the layout of subsequent machining. **Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills** Studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions and visualizes product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts. Works in shop. Sets up and operates machine tools including: Mazak Quick Turn 35 (CNC) Lathe , 12 horizontal, TRAK Vertical Mill, ProtoTrak Bridgeport Style Mill, HAAS CNC vertical machining center. Familiarity with CNC G and M codes, CREO or Mastercam preferred. Lifts machined parts and positions and secures on machine or work surface. Verifies dimensions, alignments and clearances and monitors quality and makes adjustments to insure satisfactory work. Performs minor maintenance on shop equipment and tools. Grinds cutters, drills, end mills and forms tools consistent with the material being machined. Must possess thorough understanding of principals of mechanics, tolerances, thermal expansion, and calculations of the same for various materials. Ability to work any assigned shift and overtime as required. May be assigned tasks outside craft as required. Demonstrates effective verbal/written and interpersonal communication skills as well as the ability to work in a team environment. Able and willing to work overtime in order to meet customer s needs. **Pay Information** Full-Time Salary Range: $56195 - $89912 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
