Job purpose

The BorgWarner Arden campus offers two world class technical centers and a cutting-edge manufacturing facility that designs and produces turbos, fan, and fan drive components for the automotive industry. The Arden campus offers a multitude of career opportunities and is in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina.

This position will machine components by operating various machines and equipment.

Key responsibilities

Set up and operate various CNC machines.Set up and adjust fixtures, cutting tools, and make tooling offsets on machines.Utilize blueprint specifications or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece and setup requirements.Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications via first piece inspection, automated where applicable.Measure mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machining as required.Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.Use hand-help precision instruments to verify quality: CMM(s), Hommell, Profilometer, micrometers, calipers, and other gauge types.Adjust as necessary to maintain quality parts within control limits for SPCInterpret departmental automated measurement reports and confer with technical team members and leadership to resolve machining issues.Cleaning and organizing of work areas (5S standards).Read and understand internal procedures and policies.Manual recovery of in cell robotics, move to home position, etc.Transport material as required using proper handling methods.Keep work area in orderly condition with respect to proper materials, tools, equipment, and personal belongings.  (Includes cleaning of equipment, floors, tables, etc.)Maintain quality standards by following proper inspection procedures.Understand and adhere to current health, safety, and environmental policies.Understand and adhere to current quality and control policies.Perform other duties as needed.

What we’re looking for

Completion of high school or equivalent. Experience in fast paced industrial environment.Requires one (1) year of experience as a Machinist I or equivalent experience. Completion of technical training in Machining or Mechanics preferred.Basic and advanced math skills (decimals, addition, subtraction, fractions. ratios, proportions) Geometry and trigonometry is a plus.Attendance on the job is essential.Must be able to work in a team environment.Must be able to follow instructions, safety rules and regulations.
