Responsible for assisting with professional nursing care for SIH patients.
ResponsibilitiesRole Specific Responsibilities
Conduct a focused nursing assessment and contribute to the ongoing comprehensive nursing assessment of the patient performed by the registered professional nurseCollaborate in the development and modification of the registered professional nurse’s or advanced practice registered nurse’s comprehensive nursing plan of care for all types of patientsImplement aspects of the plan of careParticipate in health teaching and counseling to promote, attain, and maintain the optimum health level of patientsServe as an advocate for the patient by communicating and collaborating with other health service personnelParticipate in the evaluation of patient responses to interventionsCommunicate and collaborate with other health professionalsProvide input into the development of policies and procedures to support patient safetyEvaluates patient progress and reports changes to RN, supervisor and/or physician.Complete, accurate, and timely documentation in patient medical recordTimely completion of required education, competencies, and licensure.Applicable to Perioperative service line LPN’s in OR/Procedure Room
Assists the physician with procedures.Assists with cleaning, decontaminating, sterilization and storage of equipment and instruments.Assists in transportation and positioning of patientsAssists in assembling and dismantling of tables and instruments before and after procedurePrepares patient and room for the planned surgical procedures.Opens sterile supplies and sets up for proceduresCompletes skin preparation and drapingAssist Surgeon with gowning and glovingAssist surgeon by passing instruments and sutureAssists in maintaining correct count of instruments, sutures, and spongesApplies dressings and bandages as neededAssists in identifying, collecting, and caring for specimens.Decontaminates instruments (point of use cleaning), supplies and equipment according to established policies and procedures; handles and stores instruments, equipment and supplies appropriatelyAids in the efficient turnover of the operating room for next casesMonitors and restocks supplies QualificationsEducation
Graduate of LPN ProgramLicenses and Certification
