Job Summary

The LPN Graduate works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or licensed healthcare provider to deliver patient care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and standards of care. While completing requirements for licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), the LPN Graduate gains hands-on experience and clinical skills in a supportive healthcare environment. This role focuses on basic nursing care, professional development, and collaboration with the healthcare team to ensure high-quality patient outcomes.

Essential Functions

Monitors and records patient vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and oxygen saturation, reporting any changes or concerns to the supervising RN or physician. Assists in patient assessments, documenting observations in the electronic health record (EHR) and communicating findings to the clinical team. Supports patient mobility by assisting with ambulation, range of motion exercises, and other physical activities according to care plans. Administers medications and treatments under supervision, ensuring adherence to physician orders, protocols, and safety guidelines while maintaining accurate documentation. Prepares patients for medical procedures, tests, or surgeries, providing emotional support and patient education as directed by the care team. Collaborates with RNs, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver coordinated, comprehensive patient care. Ensures a clean and safe environment by adhering to infection prevention and control standards, including proper handling and disposal of medical waste. Educates patients and families on care plans, medication management, and health practices within the scope of practice and under supervision. Participates in clinical education and training opportunities, developing skills and competencies required for LPN licensure. Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

Technical School with completion from a state approved, accredited Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program required and Other NCLEX-PN exam eligibility or successful completion pending licensure required 0-2 years of experience as a nursing assistant or other allied health role required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Basic understanding of nursing principles and practices, including patient care techniques and safety protocols. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members. Attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures and clinical guidelines. Proficiency in basic computer skills, including the use of electronic health records (EHR). Willingness to learn and grow in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Licenses and Certifications

LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse - State Licensure preferred BCLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) required
