Medina Hospital's 3 South General Medicine Unit is a 32-bed unit specializing in general medical surgical care and observation for adult and geriatric patients. 3 South delivers care to various other conditions including pneumonia, diabetes, sepsis, GI bleed, cellulitis, COPD exacerbation, various cancers, kidney stones, and bowel obstructions. This unit also cares for patients undergoing hysterectomies, thyroidectomies, colon resections and appendectomies. **A caregiver in this position works 7:00PM - 7:30AM.** A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Collect, document and report patient data and observations. + Implement care plans as directed by an RN and contribute to care plan revisions. + Administer medications and/or treatments authorized by a provider and observe patients for adverse reactions. + Perform routine laboratory tests. + Educate patients and family members. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Graduate of an accredited practical or vocational nursing program. + Current Ohio license as a Licensed Practical Nurse. + Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA). Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + One year of patient care experience.
