Job Description:
The LPN will assist in preparing patients for exams, assisting with procedures, administering medications and facilitating general communication with patients under the direction of an FHP physician.
Assesses and prepares patients for exams and/or minor surgical procedures/sets up surgical trays for the procedures to be performed. Provides assistance to physician in a professional manner. Communicates with patient/family in an effort to gather necessary medical and social information. Develops and maintains patient relations by making patient feel at ease while escorting them to the exam room for purpose of physician exam. Communicates with hospital, labs, outside agencies to obtain and give needed data. Makes referrals, schedules appointments/surgeries, and obtains pre-certs/authorizations as necessary. Practices and promotes positive interpersonal and intradepartmental relations. Answers patient phone calls and accurately records messages. Works efficiently and accurately on routine tasks. Maintains patient charts, copies various forms and records as requested. Stocks and cleans exam rooms, monitors and orders supplies appropriately. Understands and operates office and surgical equipment. Collects laboratory specimens and accurately performs lab tests specific to the practice. Keeps accurate and orderly patient records. Assists with wound care, dressing changes, suture removal, etc. Maintains and cleans/sterilizes surgical instruments. Understands and follows HIPAA/CLIA/OSHA regulations relating to the practice. Disposes bio hazardous waste and contaminated/outdated medical supplies according to organizational policy. Maintains the privacy of patient information and security of all records. Attends meetings and participates in QA activities as well as training and educational sessions. Maintains composure/professionalism during emergency situations. Maintains constant patient flow, alleviating downtime, and working in patients, procedures, etc. as necessary.
