Role Definition
Responsible for designing, planning and optimizing warehouse layouts, processes and operations to achieve efficient and cost-effective solutions
Responsibilities
• Design and plan warehouse layouts to maximize storage capacity, improve material flow and reduce costs
• Analyze and optimize warehouse processes, including receiving, picking, packing and shipping
• Ensure optimal use of warehouse space including vertical storage and inventory slotting
• Analyze data on warehouse operations, including inventory levels, shipping, receiving and labor productivity
• Provide regular reports and recommendations on warehouse operations and improvements

Warehouse planning: Knowledge of warehouse design principles including layout, storage systems and material handling equipment, Automated warehouse systems and Lean principles
Level Working Knowledge:
• Works with warehouse operations team to understand and map the current state processes
• Capacity calculations for various volume and business scenarios
• Basic knowledge and understanding of WMS
• Works with Autocad draftsman in drafting the basic layouts
• Follows Lean principles while designing any warehouse layouts
Logistics Management: Knowledge of the processes, tools and operational considerations for effective and efficient movement of goods and materials; ability to understand, predict and control the movement of goods, materials and supplies.
Level Working Knowledge:
• Uses tools, with guidance, to forecast delivery times, determine costs and assess performance.
• Works with logistics in a domestic environment.
• Maintains records of all shipments and invoices using an established system.
• Assists in the development of process flows to track lead time by activity.
• Participates in integrating logistics processes and developing effective networks.
Supply Chain Management: Knowledge of functions, principles and techniques used in supply chain management; ability to develop and implement strategies, practices and tools for controlling the whole processes.
Level Working Knowledge:
• Recognizes software systems or components used to manage supply chain.
• Participates in supply chain analysis and uses it to spot trends and improvement opportunities.
• Discusses considerations for integrating partner and supplier transactions.
• Summarizes supply chain considerations for different types of products.
• Works with a specific part of supply chain management process.
Vendor Management: Knowledge of vendor management methodologies, technologies and processes; ability to gain increased value and excellent services from vendors, as well as costs control and risk mitigation throughout the deal life cycle.
Level Working Knowledge:
• Resolves routine supplier issues; escalates non-routine issues up chain of command.
• Works with vendors to ensure that purchases meet delivery date and quality specifications
• Researches alternative vendors or suppliers; participates in supplier selection.
• Acts as the routine contact point between the organization and vendors.
• Follows procedures in carrying out routine supplier management tasks.
