The Department of Pediatrics at CHEO, University of Ottawa is recruiting a full time locum Cardiologist within the Division of Cardiology to fill a 6 month term with the possible extension to 1 year.

The Department of Pediatrics is affiliated with CHEO, the CHEO Research Institute and the University of Ottawa. Together, we provide outstanding patient care, leading research, and quality pediatric medical education. The Department of Pediatrics provides health care to newborns, children and youth of the Ottawa area, as well as those from Eastern Ontario, Western Quebec, Nunavut and parts of Northern Ontario (population of approximately 1.8 million). The Department of Pediatrics has 18 distinct divisions, which includes Cardiology.

The Division of Cardiology is comprised of 7 clinicians who are dynamic, highly engaged, and dedicated to excellence in patient care, academic activity, and research. The Division provides cardiology subspecialty care to children and youth ranging in age from fetal life to age 18 years. Outpatient and inpatient general cardiology care is provided, with additional specialized services including non-invasive electrophysiology, fetal cardiology, inherited arrhythmia, cardiomyopathy, and neuromuscular disease. A full complement of cardiac imaging modalities is utilized, including echocardiography (transthoracic and transesophageal), cardiac MRI, cardiac CT and cardiac catheterization (diagnostic and interventional). Cardiovascular surgery is performed on site, with collaboration with The Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, under a 1 program – 2 sites model.

The clinical role will include inpatient and outpatient cardiology services and on-call coverage.

Candidates for this position must have an MD, certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in pediatric cardiology or equivalent and be eligible for licensing in the Province of Ontario.
