Brief duties description:

Outpatient Clinics – 3 PA’s + 3 PA’s admin + 1,5 SPA

The post-holder will provide support for the Lipid and Cardiovascular risk prevention clinics.

2 Lipid clinics 1 Diabetes clinic Clinical Biochemistry Diagnostic Service – 2 PA’s + 0,5 PA Lab governance meeting

The post holder with the existing trainees will participate in the provision of clinical support to clinical and diagnostic work within the department of Clinical Biochemistry, including point of care testing.

Clinical trials, clinical audits, quality improvement Teaching as and when needed.

Ideal candidate will have FRCPath and MRCP as well as some experience in metabolic medicine, ie:

Drug treatments such as insulin and lipid-regulating drugs Enzyme replacement therapies for inherited metabolic diseases Bariatric surgery for obesity, such as gastric bypass surgery Provision of nutritional support via percutaneous gastrostomies (PEG, an endoscopic procedure) or parenteral nutrition (TPN) Cardiovascular risk testing, e.g. for patients with high cholesterol Use of new biologic treatments for cholesterol disorders Dynamic tests or ‘stress tests’ for a wide range of conditions
