Description Overview We are seeking to fill this role on behalf of our client in the Capital Region. This is a short-term contract position lasting through May 2025. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing and collecting delinquent loan accounts and related collection issues. Key Responsibilities + Collect accounts assigned by department management, including member negative share balances, MasterCard accounts, and consumer and small-balance commercial loan accounts. + Accurately maintain records related to the collection of accounts. + Acquire and retain knowledge of state and federal laws regarding bankruptcy, foreclosure, repossessions, and the handling of deceased members. + Make recommendations to management regarding repossessions, charge-offs, or further internal collection efforts. + Maintain compliance with the Telephone Collection Practices Act, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and other applicable regulations. + Stay informed on the Fair Credit Reporting Act and CFPB regulations as they pertain to collections. + Understand regulations around right of offset and freezing funds for SSI, SSD, and pensions. + Build and maintain relationships with outside collection attorneys, repossession agents, and other vendors to ensure accurate and timely service. + Prepare and manage collection figures and reports as specified by department management. + Performance will be evaluated based on call quality, member service excellence, efficiency, and achievement of specific management-set goals. Requirements Qualifications + Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university. + Minimum of 2 years of experience in a telephone collection or call center environment preferred.
