Position Summary

Do you like to look at data sets to find trends and tendencies? Do you enjoy dealing with complex, multivariable problems using cutting-edge analytics? Xcel Energy is looking for smart, innovative STEM based interns with analytical, modeling skills to join our team.

We are looking for analytical thinkers that can discover insight from load research data using statistical, algorithmic, mining and visualization techniques. Assist in development of meaningful reports for internal and external customers.

This position will be for a January 2025 or May 2025 start date depending on business needs . These positions may have the possibility to extend beyond the internship’s initial term based on the candidate’s successful performance and Xcel’s business needs.

(Starting pay is based on Sophomore college level and will increase each additional year of college)

Minimum Requirements

Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s program for economics, mathematics, statistics, business, computer science, energy and environmental sciences, or similar programCurrent Student, sophomore status (as of January 2025) or higherPossess basic computer skills, preferably with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Excel and Word)Good organizational, communication and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

3.0 GPA (out of a 4.0 scale) or higherCompleted 2 years of undergraduate courseworkFluency with Python, R or similar coding languagesData Exploration skills: ability to look through data, assess data quality and draw conclusions from dataExposure to and understand of foundational statistical concepts

Non-Bargaining

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $18.40 to $27.20 per hour

This position is eligible for the following benefits: Pension, 401(k) plan, Paid time off (PTO), Holidays
