Live Out Housekeeper job near Hungerford, Berkshire

A permanent housekeeper is required to start ASAP near Newbury. This position is ideally suited for a candidate who already resides in the local area and can live out. The household serves as a weekend residence, so it is essential that the candidate is willing to work weekends and has two days off during the week. Flexibility is important, as evening shifts may be required when the clients are entertaining.

The family is young and has three children, making this role ideal for someone who is extremely family-friendly and accustomed to a busy, toy-filled environment. Additionally, the family owns dogs, so a love for animals and the countryside is crucial.

This is a busy and varied role within a dynamic household, requiring someone who is both flexible and willing to adapt. Initially, the housekeeper will work in a five-bedroom home and will later transition to an eleven-bedroom home that is currently being renovated. The housekeeper will work under the supervision of the head housekeeper and must be willing to take guidance and instruction while also being capable of working independently on the head housekeeper’s days off.

Responsibilities

Main duties will include daily cleaning (mopping, vacuuming, dusting, bed changes, ironing, laundry, deep cleans).

Cleaning and maintaining silver, china, antiques, and other specialist items.

Packing/unpacking for the principals on arrival.

Wardrobe management.

Assisting the house manager with service of food and drink if required. 

Preparing the house for the family arrival, organisation and ensuring the household is presented to the standards required at all times, and is always ready for the clients arrival, at all times.

Pet care – the family have 2 two dogs.

Requirements 

Previous private Housekeeping / Laundry experience is essential.

Excellent attention to detail.

It is important the housekeeper has a happy and easy going personality, is professional, well presented and discreet. 

They should be able to respect the families privacy but confident to interact with the clients when needed.

The housekeeper should be calm and able to work well with last minute changes

Work well in a team. 

During school holidays the family will be in residence during the week as well as at weekends, so these are busy times.

The candidate must have a car and be able to drive.

This is a traditional rural Estate and it is important the candidate enjoys rural life and country pursuits. 

Hours: 40hrs/week

Salary: £40 000 - £45 0000
