Nelson Mullins is seeking a litigation paralegal in our Dallas office to assist attorneys representing leading automotive manufacturers and distributors in a range of matters including state and federal proceedings, state motor vehicle proceedings, and class actions.
This position will sit in the Plano Office.
A Day in the LifeThe ideal candidate for this position possesses well-developed critical thinking, organizational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines. You have a strong sense of accountability, take ownership over projects and responsibilities, resolve issues proactively, and know how to be a true team player. You’re a technology pro and have no problem learning new software. You utilize your paralegal expertise and keen eye for detail to further teamwork, client services, and efficiency. You will perform a broad range of substantive paralegal tasks, you’ll work directly with attorneys on product liability, warranty, franchise and distribution law litigation, and other complex business disputes in a variety of industries. You’ll maintain and monitor court deadlines for assigned cases and take ownership of case calendars; electronically file documents with the Court through the ECF system under the supervision of an attorney; perform online PACER research; and prepare drafts of pleadings, notices, and motions.
Other responsibilities will allow you to prepare deposition notices (organize, maintain and prepare deposition materials, exhibits and summaries); track and manage discovery, including document productions; participate in case strategy meetings; prepare for and attend trial; and handle routine calls and correspondence to courts, outside attorneys, and clients.
We Know YouThe ideal candidate will have at least 8 years of litigation experience in a law firm, including case preparation from beginning to end and an understanding of a paralegal’s role in the litigation life cycle, especially product liability litigation. Trial experience is necessary.
2 or 4-year degree and a paralegal certificate; however, work experience may be substituted for education. Ability to conduct research using various research tools, including the Internet and Westlaw. Flexibility to work overtime as needed to meet business needs.
