Who You Are:

Versar Global Solutions is looking for a full-time Liquid Fuels Mechanic to work remotely with frequent travel within the South Pacific region of the United States (CA, NV). This position performs site maintenance tasks related to fuel systems, such as identifying and troubleshooting fuel systems discrepancies, minor construction activities, preventative and corrective maintenance, and repair projects.

What You’ll Do:

Performs routine maintenance inspections at various U.S. military locations in the continental United States, by anticipating and planning recurring maintenance activities of fuel facilities within the military support services area.Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain Class I, II and III hydrant systems to include other supporting equipment and appurtenances. Maintain fuel storage tanks, including inspection reports of the operations for unusual circumstances to include pressure changes, leaks, corrosion, etc.Diagnose and correct problems using test equipment, statistical, equipment history, manufactures specifications, and industry-related standards to avoid fuel spills or fuel facility related events.Review repair specifications of equipment or components being purchased or fabricated for repair and construction projects, to ensure compliance with contractual requirements and material specifications.Procure material required by repair or maintenance work.Maintain records relating to maintenance. Document and report all activities in a centrally managed maintenance management system.Maintain good working relationship with coworkers and military management personnel utilizing good judgment in recognizing scope of authority.Investigate and adjust customer complaints and concerns regarding fuel systems maintenance.Maintain knowledge of military standards, Unified Facilities Criteria (UFCs), EM-385-1-1 Safety and Health Requirements Manual, OSHA, EPA and other industry standards.Adhere to strictly enforced Health and Safety requirements with the highest quality standards expected. Perform all other duties as assigned by management.

What You’ll Bring:

Must be able to effectively communicate with managers and coworkers in English.Possess and maintain a valid United States driver’s license.Possess working mechanical and electrical equipment knowledge.Experience with equipment operation and power tools.Capable of submitting daily/weekly field reports with photos using Microsoft Office software.Ability to travel regionally in CA, NV. Successful results of pre-employment background and drug screens.Adhere to Company drug and alcohol policy.Must be authorized to work in the US or will be authorized by the successful candidate’s start date.

Preferred Qualifications

40 hr OSHA HAZWOPER, 30 hr OSHA Construction, and First Aid/CPR.2 to 5 years’ experience as a liquid fuel maintenance technician.

Physical Demands

This position requires the individual to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs and sometimes work in confined spaces in proximity to loud equipment. Must be able to lift and carry (or otherwise move) up to 50 pounds regularly. Must be able to respond quickly to sounds and dangerous situations, if needed. Must be able to wear personal protective gear most of the day. Must be able to sit, stand, and walk, must have close and color vision, use depth and peripheral vision, and be able to adjust focus.

Work Environment

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Frequent field work at construction and client sites will require employee to be exposed to a variety of outdoor weather conditions in fueling facility environments. Employees will wear hard hats, eye protection, hand protection, foot protection and other appropriate safety equipment as needed in the field.

Travel Requirements

Frequent attendance at on-site events at designated locations requires the ability to provide reliable transportation and maintain a current, valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.Position will require travel at a frequency of 50% to domestic locations.Access to federal installations or other secure facilities will require security badges and employee must be able to obtain basic security clearances.Travel compensated in accordance with GSA per diem rates.

Compensation 

Expected Salary: $60,000 – $85,000
