The job holder is responsible for technical delivery of 24x7 production support to Linux/VCS and work as a Subject Matter Expert for the production support team.Perform Root Cause Analysis and provide permanent fixes.Investigate and provide solutions to database performance related issues.Lead Unix team in crisis calls, participate in MIR and PIR calls, also mentor team members. Successful candidate should be a technically experienced self-starter capable of communicating at all levels of the Bank.Run to resolution with Issues via Incidents or Changes for Global Payments SolutionsIncidents may be 1st 2nd or 3rd Level problems.Should be able to present a solution and implement or explain the problem to both technical and non-technical parties.Should be able to lead crisis calls and work on finding the Root Cause Analysis and should be able to test implement remedial actions. Engineering of Linux systems administration-related solutions for global Payment services.Maintain best practices while managing systems and delivering services.Proactively monitoring system performance and capacity planning using the platform and strategic tools in the BankManage, coordinate, and implement software upgrades, patches, hot fixes on servers, workstations, and network hardware.Create and modify scripts or applications to perform infrastructure tasks on live and in build servers.Provide input on ways to improve the stability, security, efficiency, and scalability of the environment.Collaborate with other teams and team members to develop automations, self-service solution, strategies, and deployment processes.Linux Support Engineers are required to work in UK business Hrs. There may also be a requirement for on-call support and out of office hours.6-8 years’ experience of Linux Administration is expected.In depth knowledge of Linux: RedHat, Veritas cluster and Veritas Volume manager and automation tools like Puppet, Ansible.Familiarity with Agile methodologies and ITIL considered a distinct advantage..Experience of Shell necessary; Python and Ansible scripting an advantage.Additional Linux certifications (RHCT, RHCE) will be considered an advantageYou’ll achieve more when you join HSBC.
