Linux Administrator Level 1

Our system administrators are the backbone of our customers applications, security compliance, and software deployments to our customer field sites. Our positions fall into a few types\: 

Application-level system administration\:  These members are assigned to specific applications and address everything from ensuring their dev environment is running smoothly, updating necessary libraries, performing health and status checks on production systems, and installing patches for security compliance. System Security Plan Support\:  System Administrators assigned to this group would help oversee security compliance for multiple systems/applications. They would review security reports, identify resolutions needed for compliance, and work with appropriate customer leads to coordinate and make the necessary updates for their systems and applications. Hardware integration and configuration\:  System admins in their area would be responsible for getting various pieces of equipment configurated and ready for shipment to our customer field sites.  In addition, helping troubleshoot equipment that is in the field may be needed (via instant message, phone, and email communication). Equipment may range from servers, firewalls, to specialized customer equipment.

With more than 10 software development projects to support as well as several hardware groups, we look for a variety of skills and capabilities in our workforce. We enable our members to learn and gain experience in as many areas as the member is interested.

Responsibilities\: 

Provide support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of IT systems Provide support for hardware problems running LINUX operating systems Configure, update, install, and manage LINUX operating systems, IT Systems and their network components Create bash shell scripts to aid in creating system stability and deployment repeatability Provide Tier 1 (Help Desk) problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problems Perform system capacity analysis and planning to optimize system operations and resource utilization Provide detailed analysis and feedback to management and internal customers for escalated tickets *

Requirements\: 

4 years of Bash programming experience 4 years of LINUX experience Experience developing scalable solutions, applicable to both large- and small-scale platforms Experience working on teams of Linux Administrators Clearance Required\:  Candidate does not need to have clearance, but will need to obtain a Polygraph before starting on Contract

Minimum Education\: 

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required. 

Minimum Years of Experience\:  

Four (4) years of System Administration experience on projects with similar scope is required. Four (4) additional years of System Administration may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree

Preferred\:  

Knowledge of web technologies Experience with virtualization Experience with Puppet or other SCMs
