The Linux Administrator will be responsible for maintaining, upgrading, and managing our Linux-based systems, with a particular focus on Red Hat Linux environments. The role requires a deep understanding of government information security standards, particularly FISMA, and a general knowledge of zero trust security principles. The ideal candidate will be motivated to achieve Red Hat certification if not already certified.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Install, configure, and support Red Hat Linux operating systems and servers. Monitor system performance and ensure compliance with security standards, with a focus on Red Hat-specific configurations. Implement and oversee security measures in line with FISMA requirements, leveraging Red Hat's security features. Manage system backups, disaster recovery, and provide troubleshooting support for Red Hat Linux environments. Collaborate with IT security teams to adopt zero trust security measures, with an understanding of Red Hat's security tools and protocols. Conduct regular system audits to ensure the integrity and availability of IT resources, with expertise in Red Hat systems. Encourage and support the pursuit of Red Hat certification for team members.Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Linux administrator, with a strong preference for experience in Red Hat environments. Strong knowledge of FISMA and its application in IT security. Familiarity with zero trust security concepts and best practices. Experience with Red Hat virtualization technologies and cloud services. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure. Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) preferred, or willingness to obtain certification.Skills:
Proficient in Red Hat Linux environments and shell scripting. Knowledge of Red Hat network security and encryption technologies. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Strong communication and documentation skills.Working Conditions:
