Job Description Summary

               

As a Line Mechanic (Millwright) you'll accomplish Company goals and objectives through the directing of other employees, as assigned by a Supervisor and Mechanic Lead. You'll support Management staff in administering plant policies and procedures, help develop and implement strategies for continued growth and improvement. You will accomplish assigned repair and maintenance functions in an orderly and timely manner through various subordinate personnel. This position also works under the direction of the Shift Manager during non-business hours or when the appropriate Department Personnel are not present. You will diagnoses maintenance problems, install and set up equipment, read and understand prints and schematics. You will repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment such as, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment.

As a Line Mechanic III you'll...

Operate process equipment and perform maintenance dutiesAssist maintenance supervisor in coordinating tasks, critique ongoing and finished work, set priorities, and complete other responsibilities as authorized.Ensure effective leadership aptitude, communication, and reasoning skills are being applied to Company policies, practices, and procedures.Support Management and employees' efforts to optimize manufacturing efficiency and promote continuous improvement.Work with Supervisory staff and safety committees to develop and implement safety improvements.Assist the maintenance supervisor in repair and maintenance programs.Assist in ordering materials and supplies for R & M.Demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding of processing equipment as well as the ability to operate, overhaul, and repair said equipment.Perform maintenance work, repair, and adjustments of processing equipment.Change and replace belts, sprockets, bearings, chains, motors, pumps, etc.Perform building repairs.Perform welds and acceptable cutting using appropriate welding equipment.Maintain a clean work area.Maintain/Promote safe work practices at all times. Have a complete knowledge and understanding of the plant safety rules including the lockout-tag-out procedure.Understand and follow all plant Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).Demonstrate within 30 days of job assignment, ownership of proper tools for the job.Assist supervisors in the training of new line mechanics.Fill out, maintain, and sign all applicable documentation and administration forms for verification purposes.Communicate with operators, sanitation leaders and supervisors to keep abreast of downtime maintenance activities, and to keep abreast of production activities.Remove any foreign material found during transfers and inspections, then notifies the supervisor immediately if glass, metal, and/or any other foreign material is found.Maintain sanitation in your work area as needed .Clean the shop area as determined necessary (using the designated cleaning equipment and supplies as well as a high-pressure water hose).Notify supervisors and sanitation leaders when repair work in the production area is completed.Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Basic & Preferred Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess effective leadership aptitude; communication skills, reasoning ability, acceptable work performance; an understanding of plant safety rules, policies and procedures, the ability to effectively lead and correspond with work groups in regards to: safe work practices, policies and procedures, have demonstrated safe work practices and have a safe work record; satisfactory attendance, and be able to safely perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Journeyman Millwright Certificate.Ability to perform structurally sound welds and acceptable cutting using equipment as listed: Acetylene Cutting Torch – mild steel Arc Weld – mild steel and stainless steel Tig Weld – stainless steel Plasma Cutter – stainless steel

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups, management, supervisor and fellow co-workers in organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry and mathematics required to calculate interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
