To meet our growing UK business needs and future development aspirations we are looking for **Lighting Team Leader** to join our Lighting & Energy Solutions team based in our London and South East Regional offices. You will have the opportunity to work on a range of significant projects based on the Westminster City Council Public Lighting Contract working on large public realm improvement and highways maintenance projects based in a prestigious area of London working for our local government end client and in partnership with FM Conway. If this is not quite the level of role you are looking for we still encourage you to apply as we are a growing team with further opportunities. **YOUR NEW ROLE, WHAT’S INVOLVED?** The Team Leader is responsible for development and leadership of a team (typically 5- 10 people) generally within an office and has key responsibility to develop the team to deliver projects. No two days will be the same but you could be expected to: + Lead health, safety and welfare culture within the Team. + Lead team resources and support and/or lead business opportunities to optimise business output. + This will include managing the day to day utilisation and competency-based allocation of team members to projects. + Collaborate to support the development of individuals within the team facilitating PDRs, mentoring and managing their career development. + You will be the first point of contact for a Project Manager requiring input from that skill area. + The Team Leader will be the local “face” of the skill for WSP, active in the local industry, known to clients and will participate in relevant institution events. **No two days will be the same, but you could be expected to,** + Demonstrate excellent inter-personal skills with good leadership and management abilities in order to develop and maintain good relationships with both team members and Regional Leads ensuring regular face to face communication and weekly team meetings. + Support and promote teamwork, within the skills-based team in an office, and between similarly-skilled teams in other offices. + Assist Regional Lead with the staff retention plans and identify recruitment opportunities to support business growth. + Work with the Regional Lead to actively lead and manage the skills team in an office, ensure that technically competent staff are assigned to projects and the team delivers to the required quality in accordance with the Business Management System and to project budget and programme. + Work with the Regional Lead to maintain a detailed understanding of team workload / utilisations and associated resource requirements and manage day to day allocation of individuals to projects based on competency, ensuring full and effective utilisation of team members. + Collaborate with other Team Leaders to optimize the resource and demand balance. + Monitor performance management processes, ensuring team are clear on expectations and standards of performance required. + Promote activities with our complimentary resource centre in India to support and drive the business delivery model. **WE’D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU HAVE:** + Registration with the Engineering Council (IEng or CEng) + Practical team management experience + Have a good understanding of design and operations + Are able to demonstrate competency and experience within engineering design + Able to coach and mentor junior members of the design team + Experience of managing resourcing **We are WSP - Join us and make your career future ready!** In today’s world it’s important to work for a company that has clear purpose, giving back to communities and supporting what is truly important in the world.
