The role
As the Lifting Professions Manager within our Infrastructure Development section, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary where you'll be key to the business.
Day to day, you will act as the Lead Subject Matter Expert for Lifting and Slinging Operations within Babcock Clyde. Acting as the leader for both professional standards in lifting, lift plan production and execution.
Oversee and govern Safe Management of all lifting operations (in accordance with LOLER), through the Operational Management team which by design, ensure that lifts are suitably planned, supervised and executed in a safe manner. Act as the lift manager under JSP975, governing a safe system of work all lifting operations within HMNB Clyde, ensuring that site policy and lift management plan are implemented & communicated across all levels of command. Determine the safe management competencies required for lifting activities and develop and manage the supporting frameworks. Take necessary action to resolve poor operational or cultural performance. and promote and encourage ownership and accountability for all staff and work force within their areas. To provide technical and managerial advice as required to personnel planning, supervising and executing lifting operations. Provide operational experience to those lifting operations to allow learning from experience to be incorporated in designed arrangements. Monitor safety performance of operational lift teams through audit, data analysis and other relevant means, and implement safety initiatives to improve safety performance. Demonstration of any improvement should be through metrics and measurement. Lead and motivate all the Lifting Operations staff to deliver the main objective and purpose. To manage the career development of management staff involved in lifting operations. Identify roles and individuals that should be considered as part of a succession plan. Support the addition of new personnel into the business.
Essential experience of the Lifting Professions Manager
This role is full time, 37 hour working week, with 4 days onsite at HMNB Clyde, near Faslane and 1 day working remotely.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain SC security clearance level for this role.
