We are seeking a talented individual to join our Life, Absence, and Disability (LAD) team at Mercer. This role will be based in Chicago, and it is a hybrid role with a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.
As a Life, Absence & Disability Consultant, you will play a pivotal role in consulting engagements and supporting employers with their absence programs, which encompass Long Term Disability (LTD), Short Term Disability (STD), Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D), as well as leave and time-off solutions. Your expertise will be essential in negotiating with benefits carriers and vendors to secure optimal plan coverage and administration services tailored to the needs of these employers. We will count on you to:
Work with colleagues on client engagements, providing support for comprehensive service delivery, strategic planning, financial evaluations, plan design, renewals, business placements, and benchmarking, while effectively interpreting and presenting benchmark data to clients and implementing necessary plan and program changes in alignment with client strategiesSupport lead consultant(s) in managing client accounts and project management through research, analysis, and evaluation of LAD benefits plans and programsLeverage Mercer's size and reputation to negotiate highly competitive rates and coverage options from carriers and vendorsAssist in the development of sophisticated benefit design and renewal strategies while utilizing Mercer tools and solutions to address client issuesEffectively communicate Mercer's position on latest industry trends to clientsSupport financial analysis and review, including underwriting, data analytics, and partnership with actuaries to support funding analysisContribute as a member of the consulting team in developing overall client strategiesWhat you need to have:
BA/BS degreeMinimum 3 years of industry related experience; life, absence, and disability experience strongly preferredSuperior analytical and mathematical skills, strategic planning, communication, and listening skillsExcellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to prioritize high volume work and handle multiple complex tasksStrong client service skills; ability to interface with multiple clients on a daily basis and develop great client relationshipsAbility to work on a team and independentlyWithin 90 days from your start date, obtain all required state Health and Life insurance licensesAdvanced knowledge of MS Office Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)What makes you stand out?

Marsh McLennan is committed to hybrid work, which includes the flexibility of working remotely and the collaboration, connections and professional development benefits of working together in the office. All Marsh McLennan colleagues are expected to be in their local office or working onsite with clients at least three days per week. Office-based teams will identify at least one “anchor day” per week on which their full team will be together in person.
The applicable base salary range for this role is $68,500 to $137,000.
The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
