Alight Retiree Health Solutions is a business unit that provides customer service assistance to Medicare and Pre-Medicare eligible retirees and assist with selecting the appropriate health plans. As a Virtual Benefit Advisor, individuals will be able to handle all responsibilities from the comfort of their home office. The Licensed Virtual Benefit Advisor’s responsibilities include selling and enrolling retirees into appropriate insurance products including but not limited to health, prescription drug, vision, dental plans, and advising Pre-Medicare eligible recipients of their options. This is done primarily through providing Medicare education, conducting needs analysis, and assisting the retirees in selecting an appropriate plan for their needs. BAs maintain the highest levels of integrity, are responsible, disciplined, team players, and produce quality work. The most successful agents maximize their selling opportunity from October 15th through December 7th. However, Alight may offer year-round employment opportunities to high performing colleagues if available.

Job Responsibilities:

Ability to consistently provide a world class experience at all customer touchpointsMaintain active resident health (and life if required) insurance license, or ability to renew license prior to start date, and any riders required by state (Med Sup/Illness/Critical Care)Ability to pass AHIP and annual carrier certificationsKnowledge of Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement, and prescription drug plansWillingness to learn about DSNP plans as well as Special Election Periods (Low Income Subsidy and Medicaid) for Retirees to be enrolled outside of the traditional Annual Enrollment Period Ability to identify Medicare prospects needs using a needs analysis based selling approach, accurately answering questions, addressing any concerns, and recommending appropriate plansEnroll retirees compliantly and efficiently by reading scripting verbatimMeet and/or exceed key performance indicatorsHandle inbound customer service calls as well as outbound dialing by providing accurate and complete information to retirees with the intent of enrolling the customer in the appropriate plan based on their specific needsResponsible for making outbound calls to warm leads with the intent of scheduling appointments or completing an appointment with a participantActively manage all appointments to follow up with a prospectRespond to voicemails within 24 business hoursMonitor the internal chat and respond in a timely fashion to any questions or requestsDeliver a consistently positive customer experience in a highly ethical and professional mannerStrong computer skills, Microsoft Office proficiency, experience using multiple screens is a plusCapable of absorbing new information and adapting to new processes and programs rapidlyAbility to process a wide range of complex details and articulate in simple terms to customers with varying levels of knowledge and educationAdhere to call center performance metrics, including customer satisfaction, compliance, and sales productivity.

Required Experience

High school degree or equivalent2 years of experience in consultative sales and/or customer service, preferably in a call center or high-volume environmentAptitude for understanding details of Medicare insurance and complying with all CMS regulationsNo contracting restrictions as related to carriers and/or previous employers. Release documents are required if previously sponsored by carriers or other companies

Work Conditions

Operate within a heavily regulated industry and a fast-paced/dynamic market environment which includes but is not limited to selling multiple insurance productsAbility to work any shift assigned including weekends and possible overtime needs (7am – 10pm CST)Flexibility to move from one line of business to another based on business needs, which may include shifting from a single carrier to a multi carrier work environment

To perform this job successfully, a dedicated quiet home office/workspace is needed with a stable internet connection. A home-based system test will be required to ensure speed and quality match company requirements (currently minimum speed is 100 Mbps). The cost for internet and/or phone services and equipment will not be reimbursable. Alight Retiree Health Solutions will provide a laptop, additional monitor, keyboard, mouse, and headset.


Alight requires all virtual interviews to be conducted on video.
