Summary:

Provide outpatient individual family and group therapy to children and youth who have severe behavioral health disorders and their families adhering to best practice treatment strategies effective for their diagnostic needs. Treatment is primarily provided in a clinic setting but may also be in the home periodically. In addition to adjustment mood and anxiety disorders children may have complicated diagnostic profiles that include trauma eating disorders and complex medical conditions autism spectrum disorders early childhood and substance abuse.

 

Responsibilities:

� Demonstrates understanding of child and adolescent development.

� Maintains current knowledge of diagnostic and treatment strategies that are effective for specialized populations; uses and seeks out clinical information to improve competency in treating complex behavioral health problems in assigned population.

� Conducts intake assessments in accordance with standards of practice with clients coming in through open access hospital discharges emergency services and scheduled appointments.

� Obtains authorizations for outpatient therapy as needed managing sessions to ensure payment of all services. Coordinates authorizations for children assessed as needing higher levels of care and assists family in admission process.

� Develops Treatment Plans that address the clinical needs of the client and family and identify the best practices according to the diagnostic profile.

� Provides general outpatient services as step-down to intensive home-based therapy including individual family and group therapy using best practice treatment strategies effective for the diagnostic needs of children and as prescribed in the individual Treatment Plans; is alert and responsive to client issues and behaviors.

� Conducts crisis assessments of children and adolescents at imminent risk of psychiatric hospitalization determining appropriate level of care needed.

� Provides psycho-educational services to children and their families based on modality frequency participant and location specifications prescribed in the Treatment Plan. Services will include provision of information regarding behavior disorders social/emotional development mental illness substance abuse effective parenting behavior management etc.

� Increases knowledge of diagnostic and treatment strategies that are considered evidence-based strategies for children and youth.

� Documents collaboratively with client if possible in progress notes and/or treatment plan review documents.

� Completes assessments treatment plans progress notes and discharge summaries according to clinical standards and required timelines.

� Identifies family needs that can be supported through other community based resources maintaining familiarity with the eligibility requirements of those resources and methods of referral.

� Identifies indicators of abuse and neglect and responds with appropriate actions.

� Conducts risk assessments for potential client harm to self or others.

� Maintains knowledge of psychiatric medications and works with prescribing professionals to assess and address the needs of clients assisting them in adhering to medication protocols.

� Performs case presentations at clinical treatment meetings synthesizing client needs response to treatment and concerns and integrating team input into clinical work.

� Attends meetings and trainings on time and actively participates in discussions.

� Prepares for and attends supervision appointments as scheduled and follows through on assignments and instructions from supervisor.

� Works cooperatively with other team members supporting each other�s needs.

� Maintains good work habits arriving on time as scheduled.

� Maintains required clinical productivity for billable services. Will need to provide times that include late afternoon and evening hours when children are not in school.

� Mentors new clinicians case managers and interns working as agreed upon with supervisor.

� Other duties and responsibilities as assigned or needed.

 

Other information:

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

� Master�s Degree in social work marriage/family counseling rehabilitation counseling mental health counseling psychology or a related mental health field.

� Independently licensed including LICSW LMHC LMFT.

� Experience working with children who have adjustment mood and anxiety behavioral health disorders and their families using best practice treatment protocols; at least two years experience providing individual and family therapy. Knowledge of treatment strategies for children and youth with complicated disorders such as trauma eating disorders and substance abuse.

JOB KNOWLEDGE SKILL AND ABILITY:

� Knowledge of child and adolescent neuro-typical development and of family systems issues.

� Demonstrates knowledge of core deficit areas of children with autism spectrum disorders developmental disabilities and behavioral health disorders and their treatment implications.

� Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally with clients family members supervisor other agency staff community professionals and other members of the community.

� Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from professionals managers family and the general public.

� Ability to successfully complete all required training and certifications.

� Oral and written communication skills including speech grammar spelling and legibility are at sufficient level to ensure effective and appropriate communication.

� Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals either manually or by use of a calculator.

Must be able to appreciate the sensitive/private nature and legal status of information about individual clients obtained maintained or used by Gateway Healthcare Inc. and to not access use disclose or request such information about a client unless necessary to the performance of his/her job.
