Licensed Addictions Counselor

Job Description:

This position utilizes substance use disorder expertise to perform psychosocial assessments, treatment planning, education on substance use disorders, crisis situation assessments to appropriately provide needed resources and or referrals for the patient, and to provide family, individual, and group treatment as indicated. The counselor works collaboratively with patients, patient's significant other, families, healthcare providers, insurers, community resources, and all other involved parties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Conducts and completes chemically dependent evaluations and psychotherapeutic interventions for clients presenting at the Community Crisis Center in crisis with complex medical, mental health and psychosocial needs.Triages and assists in the coordination of appropriate referrals for every assessed client, taking into consideration co-occurring needs for the CD and MIPlaces consumer in appropriate level of treatment based on evaluation/assessment and intake information.Works with the Community Crisis Center team to assist the client in accessing the appropriate level of treatment for both CD and MI diagnosis.Maintains treatment plans and results-oriented progress notes in PATHWAYS and hard copy files, completing regulatory forms and requests as neededIdentifies service gaps and participates in Community Crisis Center programs to address and improve quality of care and wrap-around services.Models and teaches conflict resolution skills to clients, families and members of the healthcare teamSubstance use groups

Education, Experience and Licensure/Certification Requirements: Bachelors degree in Human Services or related fieldMontana State Licensed Addiction Counselor or the ability to attain licensure within 6 monthsMontana State Licensed Professional Counselor or the ability to attain licensure within 12 months preferredCurrent BLS certification or ability to obtain prior to start date.Prior clinical experience with psychiatric and substance abuse preferred.Ability to perform psychotherapeutic interventions with diverse and complex patient population.Ability to administer, assess and incorporate standardized testing into a treatment plan.Working knowledge of ASAM criteria and DSM-IV Revised or its equivalent.Ability to assist in program development for the CD Program including policies, procedures, protocols, quality control, etc.Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically within a multi-functional teamStrong organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to successfully function in a fast paced, service oriented environmentExperience in understanding and usage of computers, including the Microsoft Office Suite, as well as the ability to learn applications relevant to the position

Physical Requirements:

Ongoing need for employee to see and read information to utilize a wide variety of information including organizing and completing documentation and forms, accessing and entering computer information, and identifying needs and urgent issues.- and -Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.- and -Operate computers and other office equipment requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.- and -Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment.- and -May require lifting and transporting objects and office supplies, bending, kneeling and reaching.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience. 

$28.15 - $43.42
