Help as backup at other library service desks. Track statistics for Resource Delivery Services. Be responsible for the operation of the facility in coordination with other staff members. Open and close the building, as needed. Minimum Qualifications Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant work experience OR High School Diploma/GED and four years of relevant work experience. Customer service experience serving a diverse population. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Commitment to teamwork. Demonstrated ability to manage time. Working knowledge of office equipment and proficiency using computer software. Preferred Qualifications Work experience in a library setting. Familiarity with an integrated library system (Sierra or Alma). Familiarity with library research databases. Essential Functions and percent of time: 75% Circulation and Borrower Services: Provide courteous front-line service to all guests in the library. Provide directional and library-loan assistance to users. Offer computer access to campus visitors. Check out library materials, renew loans, and check in materials. Provide faxing, receive cash payments, and make deposits to campus flex accounts. Update the student information system with library hold information. Register new borrowers. Reconcile library policy and procedure with special user needs. Handle user suggestions, problems, and complaints. Monitor use of library keys. Respond to emergency situations such as fire, theft, hostile patrons, and equipment failure. Answer the library telephone and record all service transactions for library statistical purposes. Open and close the building, as needed. Essential Functions and percent of time (cont'd): 15% Backup Services: Answer library emails. Walk through the library to monitor conditions and student needs. Answer the phones of all absent staff. Document daily activities and problems and communicate with other staff via email. Prepare monthly email report on activities. Support other library staff to account for absences, including subbing in at multiple service points. Non-Essential Functions and percent of time: 10% Participate in the planning, development, and marketing of University Libraries’ services, and perform other related duties as assigned. Working Conditions Requires the physical stamina to push carts full of library books and use library step-stools to bend/reach for books on 8ft shelves. Required to work other shifts including holidays, weekends, or evenings, as needed.Schedule: Sunday – Thursday 4:00 p.m. – 12:30 a.m.
