Legal Writer – Practical Guidance – Cybersecurity and/or Data privacy Law specialist (Part-time)

About the role
The primary purpose of this role is to develop and maintain high quality up-to-date practical legal content for Practical Guidance Cybersecurity, Data Protection & Privacy. It will also provide support to Relationship Managers and sales staff to help build brand awareness and influence market share across clients and stakeholders. The job will include preparing and maintaining practically focused content as well as practical resources for our popular Practical Guidance product that is Australia’s most established and trusted ‘how-to’ of legal practice.
With strong experience as a practising lawyer in Australia, you will have a solid understanding of the practical processes relevant to a cybersecurity/data privacy lawyer.
This role is part-time, 3 days a week. Some regular in-office time is preferable, in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane, and there is also the opportunity to work flexibly and from home. Interstate applicants outside of Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane are welcome to apply.
Responsibilities
Creation and maintenance of content, including guidance notes, checklists, precedents, legal updatesQuality Assurance: Checking and ensuring quality of all content is legally correct, reflects current market practice trends as well as ensuring correct grammar and English is used.Maintaining close relationships with the market to ensure the highest standards of content relevancy and currency.Build and maintain strong working relationship with external authors/advisors.Develop and maintain relationships with legal professionals to ensure best practice and jurisdictional expertise.Support Engagement Managers and customer relationship managers to understand customers’ needs.Support local team in building cross-functional relationships to leverage best practice across global teams.Requirements
3+ years PQEExperience in Australian mid to top tier law firm or in-house counsel roleA strong practice background or keen interest in cybersecurity, data protection and privacy law and proven ability to adapt to new practice areasExcellent communication and plain-English writing skillsAptitude for building and fostering relationships with a range of diverse clients and local and international stakeholdersExcellent analytical, problem solving and organisational skills.Work in a way that works for you
