The Opportunity
At EY Belgium Financial Services, we built a thriving Legal & Regulatory practice of more than 30 professionals, bringing together skilled, pragmatic business advisors with an in-depth understanding of the legal and regulatory framework within the financial sector.
Our fast-growing Legal & Regulatory team, given its sector-focused and multidisciplinary approach, provides legal and regulatory business advices to all major financial institutions active in Belgium, particularly banks, insurance distributors, investment funds, asset managers, payment services institutions, etc.
To strengthen our team, we are looking for legal experts with experience in financial regulations, excited about growing their careers within our team. You will have the opportunity to make a real difference within the EY FSO legal consulting practice during a time of exciting growth and help build trust in a changing economic and regulatory environment.
Key Responsibilities
As a (Senior) Consultant, you will provide legal and business advice to financial institutions, as well as identify legal and business requirements. You will also directly contribute to the implementation of regulatory requirements into the compliance frameworks and operational procedures of financial institutions, by delivering on-site projects in close cooperation with the clients’ first and second lines of defense.
More specifically, our practice advises financial services companies on the following topics included on the regulatory agenda:
• Financial crime (Anti-Money Laundering/Combating the Financing of Terrorism, Sanctions and Embargoes, Market Abuse, Fraud, etc.)
• MiFID
• Banking & Capital Markets
• Payment Services and FinTech’s
• Governance, compliance issues, non-financial risks and related legislation
• Data protection, e-privacy and new technologies
• Wealth and asset management
• Insurance
• Corporate law
• Environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) investments
You will demonstrate a pro-active, client-oriented attitude and help further develop the practice and act as an interface with our clients, both locally and on EMEIA level.

Skills and Attributes for Success
• Master degree in Law
• Professional experience (between 2 – 5 years), either within a law firm, consultancy firm or financial institution
• Solid knowledge of financial regulations, with the willingness to learn further in this field.
• A diverse way of thinking to be able to have different solutions for our client’s challenges.
• Outstanding client stakeholder management skills and ability to build relationships through solid communication and presentation skills.
• Fluency in Dutch and/or French, with an excellent knowledge of English.
• Strong team spirit, balanced by a healthy sense of autonomy.
