Summary About the Position: This position is located at the 3rd Chemical Brigade, 2-10th Infantry Regiment at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. The Fort covers more than 61,000 acres and is located in Pulaski County, Missouri. Bordering the installation to the North are the towns of Waynesville/St. Robert and Interstate 44. St. Louis is a 2 hour drive to the East along I-44 and Springfield is a little more than an hour's drive to the West of Fort Leonard Wood. Responsibilities Serve as the liaison between the employing organization and the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate (OSJA) under the technical supervision and guidance of the Chief, Military Justice . Examine case files submitted by units as necessary with additional instructions or guidance. Receive and process legal documents for the full scope of administrative separation actions under AR 635-200 and AR 600-8-24. Prepare draft appointment orders detailing officers to conduct AR 15-6 investigations, administrative separation boards, and Article 32 hearings for review by the Chief, Military Justice. Coordinate with court members, board members, unit commanders, accused or respondent, Trial Defense Services, and witnesses regarding the uniform, time, date and location of all trials and hearings. Prepare summarized transcripts of proceedings in the final form. Utilize a personal computer and electric typewriter, as well as a variety of software. Prepare a wide range of documents containing a variety of specialized terms and formats, based upon instructions indicating only the general nature of the end product of objectives to be achieved. Review incoming regulations and directives relating to legal programs, functions, and procedures, and prepare draft instructions for subordinate units. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes implementing administrative policies and procedures; advising on matters of office legal administration/processes, file management, and coordinating administrative procedural functions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade level position in the federal service (GS-05) OR B. I have successfully completed a half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Legal. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR C. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Customer Service (Clerical/Technical) Integrity/Honesty Self-Management Writing Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05). Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period is required. Direct deposit of pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. This is a Career Program (56) position. Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement. This position is covered under AR 3016. Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest.
