DESCRIPTION OF WORK Your legal knowledge and analytical skills are paramount for this role as a hearing officer and as a general legal analyst. All work must be performed in accordance with due process of law and agency policies and is subject to supervision and review. You will serve as presiding officer and adjudicator at hearings related to monetary penalties assessed by automated enforcement programs in which PennDOT provides the hearing and adjudication process. This includes applying legal principles to individual cases or problems, reaching conclusions based on applying facts in evidence to the relevant law, and writing decisions. Additionally, your work as a legal analyst will include legal research, case preparation, and general litigation support; general duties such as replying to legal correspondence and reviewing rules, regulations, and bulletins; and assisting in the conduct of studies to determine administrative problems involved in proposed rules or regulations. Work Schedule and Additional Information: + Full-time employment + Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch. + Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time. You will be required to report to the office as needed for training and meetings. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: + A Juris Doctor degree from an American Bar Association accredited law school; or + Three years of professional experience in legal research and analysis, and a bachelor’s degree; or + Five years of legal research and analysis experience including three years at the professional level, and an associate’s degree; or + An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes two years of professional experience in legal research and analysis.
