The Lecturer position will provide physiology lectures to primarily first-year students utilizing blended learning with face-to-face clinical teaching, online training and learning within the Department of Family Medicine and Primary Care for the Division of Clinical Associates Bachelor of Clinical Medical Practice (BCMP) programme training clinical associate students. The position will report to the Head of Division of Clinical Associates.
Lead and manage the physiology curriculum for undergraduate BCMP (Clinical Associate) students.
Teach physiology content related to all body systems.
Develop assessments for the physiology content.
Brief Description
Specific Responsibilities for the Division of Clinical Associates BCMP programme:
1. Teaching and Learning activities for the Division of Clinical Associates
a. Conduct teaching, facilitating & learning for BCMP students
i. Teaching physiology as appropriate for SCMD1001A, (histology, organ , and systemic physiology) SCMD2001A- pathophysiology
ii. Focus on applied physiology
iii. Preparing and implementing blended learning, in classroom large and small group learning
b. Develop assessments for physiology content
i. Create written assessment blueprints, Develop MCQ and MEQ questions
ii. Mark written assessments
iii. Maintain feedback sessions to support students academic performance
iv. Participate in clinical osces where applicable
2. Collaboration
a. Collaborate with first-year lectures teaching anatomy and clinical medicine to ensure alignment of teaching and learning
b. Participate, and contribute to Division, Department, School, and Faculty wide committees.
3. Support Research activities related to BCMP programme
a. Develop, draft, and submit research protocols
b. Conduct research studies: data collection, questionnaires, interviewing, reports, etc
4. Pursue Professional Development
Requirements:
A physiologist/ MBBCh / BCMP (Clinical Associate) / Nursing qualification
Postgraduate Masters degree in Physiology
Experience in teaching basic health sciences with a primary focus on physiology.
Teaching basic sciences for more than 2 years.
Research experience
Good computer skills including MS Word, Excel essential and experience of elearning
Recommendations:
Completion of Postgraduate Diploma in Health Science Education or similar educational courses advantageous
