Clinical Educator (Lecturer) 40% AC.08

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the Faculty of Health Sciences at Wits University invites applications from suitably qualified healthcare professionals to join the team as a Clinical Educator. This role involves training medical students in the NMFC Collaboration Project to achieve clinical, procedural, and communication competence within obstetrics and gynaecology. The appointed individual will collaborate with local clinicians to ensure alignment of academic and service priorities, benefitting students, healthcare providers, and patients.

Brief Description

Key Responsibilities:

Facilitate training in obstetrics and gynaecology with a focus on clinical, procedural, and communication skills. Conduct bedside and small group tutorials in hospital wards, outpatient clinics, and casualty settings. Provide mentorship to students and identify learning opportunities in real-world clinical settings. Work collaboratively with hospital and academic staff to integrate service and training objectives effectively. Monitor and improve the quality of training at clinical sites to meet defined learning outcomes. Assist in identifying at-risk students and provide necessary psycho-social support. Contribute to the development of students' competencies through direct clinical supervision. Assist with both formative and summative student assessment

Location:
This position is based in Academic Health Complexes in Gauteng. The appointed Clinical Educator must be willing to rotate between designated training sites and travel as needed.

Requirements:

MBChB degree with registration as a medical practitioner with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA). At least 3 years of post-community service clinical experience, with exposure to obstetrics and gynaecology. Teaching and research experience. Sound knowledge of the South African healthcare system. Commitment to district healthcare development.

Preferred Qualifications:
