The School of Physiology is a vibrant, productive, research-orientated School in the Faculty of Health Sciences. We are looking for someone to join our team of academic staff to engage in research and teaching, particularly to medical, dental, and allied health sciences students.

Brief Description

Duties:

Teaching physiology to under- and post-graduate students

Active engagement in research

Participation in all academic activities of the School.

Minimum qualifications and experience:

A PhD in physiology, or any biomedical-related field, or a clinical qualification (registration with HPCSA required)

Experience in teaching physiology within a university setting (two years for the Lecturer position, and five years for the Senior Lecturer position)

Experience in training post-graduate students undertaking research degrees (e.g., Honours, MSc, PhD), with at least two graduates at the Masters level for the Senior Lecturer position.

Evidence of the ability to do and publish research (Senior Lecturer position requires at least eight publications in accredited journals, with four publications at first or senior author)

Advantages:

Research experience in one of the broad themes of Neurophysiology, Cardiovascular Physiology, Nutrition and Metabolism, or Molecular Immunology.

Evidence of grantsmanship

Successful completion of a post-graduate qualification in health sciences education

Remuneration:

Remuneration will be commensurate with level of appointment, qualifications and experience. The package includes a provident fund, medical aid and bursaries, subject to the University s regulations.
