The successful candidate will collaborate with program stakeholders in the ongoing development of SHSU’s robust French program.
The required teaching load is eight (8) courses annually and consists of teaching in-person at the SHSU main campus in Huntsville, Texas, as well as occasional online and hybrid modalities in accordance with student needs. Course assignments may include: French instruction from beginning to advanced levels, along with occasional upper-level courses related to candidate’s expertise. Additional duties will include committee assignments, recruitment activities, curriculum development, and community engagement. Educational Requirements for the Position Candidates must have an M.A. in French, French Applied Linguistics, or a related field (must have a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in French with native or near-native fluency). Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of French applied linguistics, second/foreign language pedagogy, or second language acquisition. Experience Required for the Position Documented history of teaching excellence in college-level French and related topics. Knowledge of best practices in French language pedagogy (online/hybrid teaching experience a plus). Exceptional interpersonal and collaborative skills. Demonstrated success working collaboratively with a team. Willingness to participate in and contribute to the goals of the French program Other Requirements for the Position Experience with/interest in teaching first-generation and non-traditional student populations.
