Department Description
The Division of Human Genetics is based in the School of Pathology, Faculty of Health Sciences, The University of the Witwatersrand. The Division provides clinical and laboratory services, teaching, and training in medical genetics and genomics at under- and post-graduate levels. The Division has an active research program.

To contribute to the teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Human Genetics
To conduct research in human genetics and supervise postgraduate students
Brief DescriptionKey responsibilities include the following:
The successful applicant will contribute to excellence in teaching and course development of Human Genetics courses at both undergraduate and post-graduate level.
The applicant would be expected to take responsibility for academic co-ordination of at least one course offered by the Division. This would include review of the curriculum and structure.
The applicant will be expected to supervise postgraduate students, pursue a productive research program and produce research outputs.
The successful applicant would also be expected to be an integrated and active Division member, engaging in academic and administrative activities and taking on academic citizenship activities within the Division and the University.
Requirements:
Qualifications: PhD or professional Master s degree in the field of Human Genetics or Genomics. Candidates in the advanced stages of their PhD may also apply.
Broad knowledge in human genetics and genomics is required.
A minimum of a year of teaching experience (tutoring or teaching assistance is acceptable) is required.
Experience in Bioinformatics would be an advantage.
