By working at Yellowstone National Park, you will get all three! As the Trainer, you will play a vital role in supporting the day-to-day administrative functions that keep the park running smoothly. Job Summary: Act as a key player in connecting employees with Yellowstone and their position by delivering a professional and enthusiastic welcome to Yellowstone, Xanterra, and their department. The Details: Position Type: Seasonal Season Dates: April - October Pay: $20/hr. Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays) Why Yellowstone National Park? Responsibilities To ensure each employee is properly trained to deliver efficient, effective service to park visitors. To facilitate the training, in a classroom or on the job setting, to support employees during the location opening phase and throughout the season. Drive exemplary guest service through training and modeling proper actions. Maintain performance and a positive attitude under pressure. Update and track all learning activity in the LMS system. Must be coach-able and works toward incorporating constructive feedback for improvement. Establish positive working relationships with managers, helping to create and maintain a sense of partnership in providing the best possible employee and guest experiences. To supervise training participants, assess skills and knowledge, monitor attendance, and provide feedback to their managers in regard to their abilities. Conduct follow-up training in a classroom or on-the-job setting for various staff members. Identify key indicators of learning transfer and track them throughout the season to identify areas of opportunity and success. Escalate concerns and opportunities for improvement voiced by class participants to Training Specialists. Make suggestions for revisions and improvements in the training program. To assist the department in the assembling and organization of all training materials (i.e., manuals, visuals, practical sessions, PowerPoint, etc.). Assist in preparing and organizing the training areas and supplies during the opening phase at each location. To ensure employees learn to maintain a high standard of cleanliness in and around the operation. To assist other departments as needed, including six-day work weeks, during times of short staffing. Ensure safety and environmental programs are being implemented. Qualifications Effective interpersonal and public speaking skills. Ability to teach others in a logical and professional manner. Ability to demonstrate tasks and give instruction in both small and large groups. Effective typing, computer data entry, and writing skills. Being capable of self-supervision and following instructions independently. Ability to process given information and make decisions. Communication and public speaking skills. Effective organizational and time management skills. Knowledge of Xanterra specific computer programs (Opera, LMS, Mi9). Knowledge of basic computer programs (Word, Excel and Outlook). Knowledge of chemical safety and products. Willingness to ensure company and department policies and procedures are be adhered to. Knowledge of Yellowstone National Park, the surrounding communities, and services available. Valid driver’s license and safe driving record required, and ability to pass DOT physical preferred. Physical Requirements include: Frequent lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds throughout the day. Pushing a cart up to 50-100 pounds. Standing for up to eight hours per shift. May be working outdoors in various weather conditions. Frequent walking up and down stairs. Walking up and down hills that are a steep grade. Requires bending, kneeling, stretching, and reaching.
