Essential FunctionsProvides inspection, decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of instruments and other patient care equipment in accordance with processing guidelines, AAMI, AORN, TJC, and OSHA requirements.Operates departmental equipment daily according to manufacturer instructions with emphasis on safety.Provides customer service to all departments with a focus on the patient need.Processes and documents all sterile supplies and equipment daily using chemical, biological and mechanical indicators to verify sterility in accordance with manufacturer instructions and hospital policy.Monitors and performs antimicrobial and disinfection solutions testing according to manufacturer instructions and documentation daily.Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment and supplies. Ensures good working order of equipment and instruments. Assists with Central Sterile Supply as needed.Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.Validates that all needed items are present prior to starting the procedure. Passes instruments to physician during surgery. Continually accounts for number and location of instruments and supplies during surgery.Receives and processes specimens for delivery to the laboratory.Job RequirementsMinimum EducationHigh School Diploma RequiredAssociates preferredRequired SkillsCertifications:Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.CSR certification or Scrub tech education requiredRequires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
