As a Lead Software Architect at K&S, you will be a key player in bridging technology with business strategy to deliver impactful software solutions. You will manage architecture across complex, multi-product systems, ensure alignment with business objectives, and collaborate with organizational stakeholders.

 

Architectural Strategy & Roadmaps: Define and maintain a comprehensive software architecture strategy that aligns with business goals and supports multi-year roadmaps.Lifecycle Management & Technology Strategy: Oversee software lifecycle management, evaluate technology stacks, manage technical debt, and integrate open-source solutions.Leadership & Mentorship: Lead and nurture the architecture team, providing guidance and mentorship to junior architects and technical teams. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technical architecture with business objectives.System Design & Integration: Design and manage architecture for complex, multi-product systems, including integration with third-party platforms and non-K&S solutions.Technical Leadership & Governance: Establish and enforce architectural standards, best practices, and governance models, ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards (e.g., ISO 27001, security frameworks).Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with systems architects, product managers, engineering leaders, and cross-functional teams to align architectural decisions with business objectives and manage trade-offs.Risk & Security Management: Lead threat modeling, vulnerability assessments, and risk management processes to ensure robust and secure solutions.Innovation & Architectural Convergence: Drive innovation by promoting the reuse of proven solutions, capturing trends in software architecture, and encouraging architectural convergence across domains.

Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.Experience: 10+ years in software engineering or a related field. 5+ years in a senior or lead architect role, focusing on designing complex, real-time, or industrial systems.Architectural Expertise: Proficiency in advanced architectural patterns (e.g., CQRS, Domain-Driven Design, SOA, Event-Driven Architecture).Experience with real-time and embedded systems, including motion control and vision systems.Strong understanding of industrial automation and embedded systems, including real-time operating systems (RTOS) and industrial protocols like EtherCAT.Leadership & Collaboration: Proven ability to manage stakeholders, lead teams, and resolve conflicts effectively.Security & Compliance: Knowledge of security standards, compliance requirements, and risk management for industrial automation and control systems.

 

The Team

The Software Department consists of the software development and testing group consisting of 40 engineers who are responsible for the whole of requirements gathering, designing, implementation and testing of new features and functions. The team focuses on designing software to control, support and use our Advanced Packaging and Electronic Assembly machines that are known for their high output at high accuracy.
