DescriptionA new research specialist position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Charles Cho, within the Division of Digestive Diseases at Emory University School of Medicine.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under general supervision, performs a variety of defined research and laboratory tests and experiments according to prescribed protocols and assigned schedules. Sets up experiments as prescribed by a prinicipal investigatorParticipate in laboratory maintenance activities such as sterilization and cleaning equipment, ordering of supplies, inventory and media preparation.Maintains records, files adn logs of work performed in laboratory notebooks and computer databases.Compliles data and records results of studies for publications, grants and seminar presentations. Monitors the handling, storage and disposal of hazardous substances. Performs related responsibilities as required. The mechanisms of changes in ribosomes and translation in mouse models in the context of acinar-to-ductal metaplasia (ADM), pancreatic intraepithelial neoplasia (PanIN), and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC).The role of ribosome-clamping proteins, such as IFRD1 and IFRD2, in vivo and in culture systems.Development of a primary pancreatic acinar cell culture model that mimics and enriches pancreatic acinar cell differentiation versus proliferation.Application of these findings to patient samples from chronic pancreatitis, PanIN or PDAC.Our research hypotheses are addressed using integrated animal models (Mus musculus), ex vivo culture systems, and a combination of genetic, biochemical, and histological techniques.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in a scientific field and two years of research experience, or equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Mouse husbandry and genotyping.Histological techniques, including tissue sectioning, cryosectioning, H&E staining, immunohistochemistry (IHC), and immunofluorescence (IF).Routine biochemical laboratory skills, such as Western blotting, quantitative PCR, cloning, imaging, flow cytometry, and cell culture.NOTE: Position tasks are required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location; working remote is not an option.
