Lead Public Relations Specialist

Overview We are seeking a full-time Lead Public Relations Specialist in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for leading global public relations (PR) and communications strategy for Garmin and will promote Garmin’s brand, products and services by developing and executing a comprehensive PR and content strategy. Essential Functions Write, source and distribute press releases, with a mix of global and regional distribution Collaborate with content marketing team on the development/distribution of blog articles Guide internal and partner approvals for third-party PR and blog content on request Develop/maintain strong relationships with journalists through targeted media outreach Create/maintain media lists for pitching and distributing press releases Collaborate cross-functionally on timely story pitches Collaborate with global sales/marketing teams on a range of communications initiatives Provide media clippings, competitor insights and industry trends to business leadership on a regular cadence Present monthly PR updates to global PR and communications teams Develop/lead Business to Business (B2B) and Business to Consumer (B2C) PR and content strategy/execution to promote Garmin Health enterprise business solutions Create, maintain and provide visibility to global Garmin Health PR and content calendar Curate content for B2B newsletter with guidance from the Garmin Health global marketing manager Monitor/report global media coverage of Garmin Health announcements and events Plan, lead and execute Garmin Health Summit media event; develop run of show, coordinate interviews, and work with global offices to identify and invite media attendees Identify regional pitch topics and PR strategies in alignment with specific Garmin Health business verticals Attend and promote Garmin Health industry events and trade shows across the globe Support PR activations and interview opportunities with Garmin Health leaders and business partners Lend PR expertise to other Garmin business segments on request Collaborate cross-functionally on global PR activations and events Support internal business communications needs as needed Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in PR, Journalism, Mass or Strategic Communications, English, or a related degree AND a minimum of 9 years of PR/media relations experience with demonstrated B2B expertise Excellent writing skills and thorough knowledge of Associated Press style guidelines Strong verbal, presentation and interpersonal communication skills Proficiency with Microsoft suite, WordPress and media monitoring tools Demonstrated organizational/analytical skills with attention to detail, a collaborative spirit, positive attitude and enthusiasm for working across global teams Desired Qualifications Previous experience in consumer electronics or IT organization Previous Marketing Agency experience Garmin Health: Previous experience in Digital Health Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
