Location Description Michael Foods, Inc. located in Lenox, Iowa and often called the "Pearl of the Prairie" is where you can find small town living, focused on family and friends, with big city amenities not far from reach in Des Moines, Omaha, and Kansas City. Located in southwest Iowa, Taylor county, with a population of around 1400, the Lenox area reaches far beyond the city limits with beautiful and productive fields of corn, beans, and other croplands. Lenox holds an amazing four day Rodeo every July and is home to a beautiful 36-9 hole golf course, several fishing and boating lakes, great area hunting, a beautiful city park with swimming pool, and many picnic parks. The MFI location in Lenox produces primarily pre-cooked egg patties. Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY: Assists in training of all sanitation and production personnel in assigned department. Assists supervisor in administrative duties such as attendance. Have a complete understanding of all equipment to be cleaned. Assist other departments as needed to ensure all departments are clean for timely startups. This position has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Ensures that all policies, procedures and activities, related to Food Safety & Quality, are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Helps in providing for a safe work environment for all personnel. Helps to ensure that all production and sanitation team members comply with food safety standards as established by Michael Foods, Inc. Works with supervisor to help maintain sanitation standards of facility. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and incorporate safety and healthy in all jobs and tasks Assigns work tasks to department personnel. Helps maintain control records related to processing, including but not limited to production records, safety inspections. Maintains effective working relationship between members of department and other areas. Continually monitors lines for quality product and notifies all appropriate personnel if discrepancy is found. Follows USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) regulations and guidelines Have a complete understanding of all equipment to be cleaned. Understand the CIPs and line hook ups. Understand all chemicals used in the plant and necessary first aid procedures. Oversee the master sanitation schedule in the assigned department. Monitors processing equipment on a continual basis to maintain proper production standards. Reports on maintenance issues as they relate to productivity, food safety, quality, and human safety to maintenance. Encourages suggestions from employees which will improve productivity, quality, or control cost of production. Maintains accurate downtime records and Daily shift report of all equipment in assigned area. Completes daily paperwork, SAP (System Applications Product in Data Processing), PEB, Brill of Lading as needed. Assures that all paperwork is being done properly. Adhere to quality work practices by following all GMPs, HACCP guidelines, SOPs, and SSOPs while maintaining sanitary conditions and ensuring product quality. Comply with all PPE requirements and safety procedures, practice proper handwashing and hygiene throughout the day, and keep records updated. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality.Always ensure that regulatory compliance is followed. Perform other duties as assigned. Must be willing to work overtime, including weekends, as needed, and be flexible to work an alternate shift if required. Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPEREINCE REQUIRED: PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram or schedule form. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Must have good communication skills. Self-motivated and a willingness to learn. Must have basic math skills. Must be able to train new employees. Must have basic computer skills (excel, word, etc) Ability to analyze problems and find solutions. Ability to obtain forklift operator license. Ability to obtain First Aid/CPR training
