Overview Expected pay for this position is $20.21/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This job is located in Peoria,IL. POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for assisting with and coordinating the daily operations of the Pathology Secretary area. Ensures that services meet quality and productivity standards, and takes corrective action as necessary. This includes developing work schedules, ensuring adequate staffing, and monitoring supplies. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining policies and procedures of this department in accordance with the Medical Center. The Lead Pathology Secretary establishes work priorities, organizes and assigns work to staff on a daily basis. Position assists with the coordination of departmental personnel orientation and training and is responsible for performing the duties of the Pathology Secretary position on a regular basis. Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Required Education, Experience, and Certification: • High School Diploma or equivalent • Minimum 1 year experience in a high volume, fast-paced healthcare related field with an understanding of medical terminology • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and website navigation • Excellent written and verbal communication skills PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preferred Education, Experience, and Certification: • Associates’ degree in a science or healthcare related field • 3 years of experience working with a pathology information systems. • 2 years of leadership experience, with proven ability to direct and influence others to achieve common goals. A track record of successful leadership competencies, such as project management, performance improvement leadership roles, and/or acting in an educational leadership role Other skills/knowledge: • Technical expertise necessary in order to interpret test results, recognize abnormal test results, validate and optimize new operating platforms, synthesize complex technical procedures and troubleshoot technical or equipment issues. • Analytical skills necessary to interpret and determine appropriate corrective action to alleviate operational areas of concern, promoting continual process improvement. • Ability to work on several projects at one time with good organizational skills, judgment and technical skills. • Interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively and communicate with patients and other health care professionals. • High level of professionalism and skillful performance in stressful situations.
