Lead Pathologists' Assistant - Surgical Pathology

Explore the dynamic realm of a Per Diem Lead Pathologists' Assistant in the surgical pathology department, where you'll have the flexibility to contribute for the day to day functions of the grossing laboratory (Surgical Pathology) and scheduling of work tasks to direct reports. Under the mentorship of the Pathologists' Assistant Manager, you'll engage in essential tasks such as examining surgical specimens for critical diagnoses, refining autopsy prosection techniques, and mastering the art of medical photography.

In this role, you'll play a crucial part in specimen preparation for fixation and embedding, perform advanced frozen section procedures, and actively participate in various departmental activities. Your contributions will span patient services, innovative research, teaching initiatives, and the development of cutting-edge technical procedures.

As a successful candidate, you will: 

Accession surgical specimens in the laboratory information system (LIS)Proposes improvements to processes and methods as needed.Oversee and performs processing and grossing of surgical specimens, as defined by CAP and CLIA 88, list A, B and C, for anatomic pathology.Oversee and performs quality control and quality assurance. Process and gross surgical specimensPerform routine and complex autopsies.

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include: 

Bachelor's Degree in Pathologist Assistant StudiesASCP / AAPA Pathologist Assistant certification4+ year experience as a certified  Pathologist Assistant in an Anatomic Pathology Laboratory
