Job Description

Senior (Lead) Microbiologist Position

Working with management leads the daily operations of the Microbiology department, ensuring all activities comply with regulatory standards.Implement and maintain GLP and GMP standards throughout all areas of testingUnder the supervision of and in cooperation with management, this position will provide technical expertise during audits, assistance in scheduling of testing, and ensure maintenance of equipment is performedThis position requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication, strong initiative and follow-through, and deep technical knowledge of regulations and standards

Responsibilities:

Training of all new personnel to the Microbiology department proceduresScheduling of onsite work for the departmentParticipating in conference calls, e-mails, and meetings with customers as technical subject matter expert, where neededEducate laboratory personnel in regulatory standards and industry practicesRecommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to support continuous improvementsWrite and revise SOPs for process improvementCommunicate with laboratory management lab capabilities and issues in real timeEnsure that all internal procedures are followedPerform monthly inventory counts and assist in ordering laboratory suppliesPerform onsite testingGowning and garbing for cleanroom settingsAssist with OOS, non-conformances, CAPA, and Change Control processesDrive positive team culture while carrying out company goalsMaintain a clean laboratory workspaceAll other tasks and duties assigned by management

Qualifications

Education:

Minimum BS degree in Microbiology or related life science

Experience:

A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Microbiology laboratory performing water testing, environmental monitoring, and USP tests.Clean room experience and demonstrated use of aseptic techniqueExcellent written and verbal communicationExtensive knowledge of FDA cGMP, cGLP, GDP, lSO, USP, ANSI/AAMl, and CLSI. Knowledge of ISO 17025 is preferred.

Additional Information

Position is full-time, working Monday-Friday 8am-5pm, overtime as needed.  Candidates currently living within commutable distance to San Diego, CA are encouraged to apply.

Compensation Range: $68,000-$73,000 per year
