Lead Maintenance Technician
JOB SUMMARY
Responsibility for a variety of specialized activities required to enhance organizational capabilities. This could include skill assessment, training/mentoring, systems improvement, complex machinery investigations, data analysis, coordination of activities with engineering or outside equipment suppliers, preparation of presentation materials to secure resources or leadership support, etc. This position is intended to retain and attract talent with highly marketable skills that are essential to sustain our business competitiveness.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide technical support to Maintenance team members to troubleshoot complex problems in order to recover highly automated production equipment quickly.
2. Assess skill levels of Maintenance team members
3. Provide training to team members to close skill gaps
4. Investigate difficult-to-resolve machine problems to determine root cause and implement countermeasures → primarily after other technician’s efforts have failed
5. Spec and/or implement countermeasures to improve machine reliability or to upgrade obsolete machine components →primarily for complex issues that cannot be delegated to Maintenance team members
6. Coordinate with machine design and/or Production Engineering (PE) teams when large or complex design solutions are needed to improve machine reliability or to upgrade obsolete machine components
7. Lead or support a variety of special projects to improve machines and or team member skills – this could include investigation, planning developing proposals, coordination with vendors, summarizing information into presentation materials, etc.
8. Review machine specs and designs prior to construction and make recommendations for improvement to design concepts in order to enhance future maintainability and reliability
9. Support the development and implementation of a comprehensive Preventive and Predictive Maintenance plan and procedures for automated equipment
10. Analyze data to identify opportunities to improve the reliability, quality, or productivity of equipment Note: Duties and responsibilities may require extended periods of off-shift work, call-in work, or on-call work schedules
Education High school diploma or completion of high school equivalence exam required
Work Experience 5 or more years of related multi craft experience as a highly skilled maintenance technician working with computer software and PLC's.
