**What you’ll do:**
Eaton - Mission Systems Division (MSD) is the world's leading provider of hose and drogue Air-to-Air Refuelling (AAR) and Actuation systems. Eaton work directly with the aircraft manufacturers and end-users to develop systems that achieve their operations in challenging environments, safely and successfully.
The Lead Engineer is a key position in the IPT. They are responsible for planning, leading and coordinating the activities of a team of engineers to deliver engineering projects to the expected quality, time, cost and customer commitments.
As a IPT Project Lead Engineer, your main responsibilities will involve:
Being the technical lead and responsible engineer for delivering strategic support services to our customers. This involves many and varied responsibilities including leading the team to provide failure investigations and fracas management, repairs capability, technical publications for the users, maintenance updates and technical assessments for continued use. All these need to be clearly communicated to the customer, and completed within project objectives and in compliance with the required processes and practices.
Responsibilities:
• The technical lead / responsible engineer for strategic support services to Airbus, Boeing and Embraer across 15 plus Airforce end users and 7 different AAR systems.
• Assigned to the engineering lead role as part of the Lifetime Support IPT.
• Responsible for ensuring strategic support services for the IPT customers are managed and delivered: key areas include failure investigation and Fracas management, REACh facilitation within IPT, Part 145 repairs engineering lead, Maintenance updates, Repair capabilities, BAU approvals, Technical publications management.
• Co-ordinates and communicates tasking with the team, and flows up escalations through the business tier board system.
• Act as a point of escalation for questions / decisions / problems that cannot be resolved.
• Accountable for technical, schedule and cost adherence for allocated projects
• Integration of a wider multi-function engineering team to achieve program goals
• Build and maintains customer relationships
• Driving continuous improvement
• Other duties assigned as necessary
**Qualifications:**
• Engineering degree or equivalent with at least 5 years experience in Engineering field.
**Skills:**
• The ability to lead and co-ordinate investigations and projects, involving cross-functional colleagues and communicate results internally & externally.
• The ability to work within a large organisation in a matrix management structure
• Decision making / problem solving – able to make decisions in complex and ambiguous situations and with incomplete data
• Ability to build excellent relationships with the customer, the team and wider Eaton colleagues
• Organisation and time management skills to allow coverage of multiple work strands and reactive responses to emerging issues.
• A strong knowledge of airworthiness and safety regulations, as well as aerospace industry standards to steer appropriate considerations in all tasks.
• Ability to provide role modeling to the team in line with the Business core values and behaviours
• Demonstrated engineering expertise with product and technical understanding
• Strong competence in engineering processes, practices and measures of performance
• Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Experience with leading engineers on technical projects within a manufacturing company, preferably in the defense and / or commercial aerospace markets
• Experience in presenting in varied situations to mixed audiences, across all levels of seniority
• Experience in one or more of the following fields - mechanical, electro mechanical, fluid, mechanisms, structures or systems.
