 Shifts: Sunday 1:00PM - 10:00PM, Monday - Thursday 2:00PM – 11:00PM.Pay: Up to $22 an hour depending on experience.
Position Purpose:
As a Lead Hostler, you will play a vital role in the operation of our business by transporting tractor trailers on Operating Company property, including loading docks and designated parking areas, and to offsite maintenance or inspection facilities.
The Lead Hostler is responsible for moving tractor trailers to/from the loading docks and parking loaded or empty trailers in designated areas in a safe and timely manner and in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Communicates and interacts with customers, vendors and co-workers professionally ensuring questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner. Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and perform any duty assigned to best serve the company.

Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:Oversee hostler training for new employees.Responsible for truck and trailer dispatch paperwork to be accurate and complete.Direct hostler personnel to ensure all trucks and trailers are assigned and in working order.Set Trailers on doors for warehouse to begin loading.Communicate any loading issues of trailers with warehouse and transportation supervisors.Schedule days off and coverage of hours for hostlers.Position all empty trailers on doors for loading.Report all damages to trucks and trailers that occur on the yard.Put trailers with return items on Transportation dock for unloading and remove all empty trailers from dock.Ensure all loaded trailers have an unloading ramp in the carrier.Ensure all loaded trailers have security seals after being loaded.Fuel any Thermo King/Carrier unit before putting on door to be loaded.Record all Thermo King/Carrier Temperatures before end of shift at night.Pick up any load locks or ramps in the yard and return to proper place daily.Report any mechanical failures to Ryder.Performs other related duties as assigned.
